Definitions Statistiques
Moyenne
The arithmetic mean is calculated by adding all values in a data set and dividing by the number of values. It represents the central tendency of the data.
Mediane
The median is the middle value in a sorted data set. For an even number of values, it is the average of the two middle numbers. It is less affected by outliers than the mean.
Nombre qui apparaît le plus souvent
The mode is the value that appears most frequently in a data set. A data set may have one mode, multiple modes, or no mode if all values appear with equal frequency.
Etendue
The range measures the spread of data by calculating the difference between the maximum and minimum values. A larger range indicates more variability in the data.

Use Cases
Analyze test scores
Enter a set of test scores to quickly find the average (mean), middle value (median), most common score (mode), and spread (range, variance, standard deviation).
Example: Scores: 85, 90, 78, 92, 85 → mean=86, median=85, mode=85, range=14
Evaluate survey responses
Use the calculator to summarize numerical survey data, such as ratings or ages, to understand central tendency and variability.
Example: Ratings: 4, 5, 3, 4, 5, 4 → mean=4.17, median=4, mode=4, variance=0.56
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I use the Mean, Median, Mode Calculator?
- Enter your data set as a list of numbers, separated by commas or spaces, into the input field. The calculator will instantly compute the mean, median, mode, range, variance, and standard deviation for your data.
- What is the difference between variance and standard deviation?
- Variance measures the average squared deviation from the mean, while standard deviation is the square root of variance. Standard deviation is in the same units as your data, making it easier to interpret.
- Can I use this calculator for large data sets?
- Yes, you can enter as many numbers as you like. The calculator will process the entire data set and provide all statistics instantly, making it suitable for both small and large datasets.
Tips & Common Mistakes
Tips
- Ensure all numbers are separated by commas or spaces to avoid errors.
- Check for outliers in your data, as they can significantly affect the mean and standard deviation.
- Use the median and mode to understand the central tendency when your data has extreme values.
- Compare the variance and standard deviation to see how spread out your data is relative to the mean.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Including non-numeric characters like letters or symbols in the data set.
- Using commas as decimal separators (e.g., 3,5) instead of periods (3.5).
- Forgetting to include all data points, which can skew the results.
